Anne Of The Island
by Lucy Maud Montgomery
book cover

I really loved how all the different love stories around her helped push Anne towards realizing her true love for Gilbert. She saw Jane marry a man that seemed to be the ideal but there just be something off with the picture, which showed like a warning of her life with Royal. She also saw Phil who was willing to grow and change for a love that was nothing like she had imagined. I think all these contrasts helped Anne realized what she truly valued, and that is also why it's important that Phil is the one who told Gilbert to try again.

Sapphire
by Kathryn Quick
book cover

Trent is coerced into participating in his sister’s wedding, where he finds himself paired with Linda, a fellow officer who seems as disinterested in the event as he is. Linda, frustrated by the forced attire and the situation, contemplates discarding the bridesmaid gown post-wedding. However, as the weekend progresses, the two begin to connect, leading to a deeper bond. The story is influenced by a family heirloom—a ring passed down by Trent’s grandmother, believed to guide its wearer to their true love. This element adds a touch of magic realism to the otherwise grounded narrative.
